RACINE, Wis. — Two people have been arrested in the fatal shooting of Racine basketball player Koreem Ozier, police announced Tuesday. The suspects are identified as Collin Wallace and Justin Millard. Police believe Wallace was the shooter and Millard was the driver. Investigators said the two suspects did not know Ozier. The shooting occurred Sunday night. Police said automated license-plate reader cameras operated by Flock helped investigators quickly identify and locate the suspects. The department emphasized the role of the cameras during an update on the investigation. The announcement comes after Racine and two other southeastern Wisconsin cities ended their contracts with Flock last week, amid broader debate over the use of privately operated surveillance technology by local governments. Police did not provide additional details about how the camera information was used in the case. Authorities also urged people who were present at the shooting scene to come forward. Police said many people were in the area and may have information that could assist the investigation. Racine Mayor Cory Mason said the arrests marked the beginning of a search for justice for those affected by several homicides in the city during a painful week. “Our community is hurting,” Mason said in a statement. “The process of healing can be long and arduous.
