OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. — Northbound I-43 was closed near Mequon Road for about an hour Wednesday evening after a five-vehicle crash, according to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded shortly after 5 p.m. as traffic backed up near roadwork at I-43 and Pioneer Road. Investigators said a pickup truck failed to slow for congestion and struck two vehicles, which were pushed into two additional vehicles. One vehicle rolled over in the collision. Authorities said no one involved reported life-threatening injuries. The sheriff’s office said inattentive driving appeared to be a factor. The northbound lanes at Mequon Road were closed from about 5:10 p.m. until 6:18 p.m. The Mequon Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol and Southern Ozaukee Fire and EMS also responded. Authorities had not confirmed whether the pickup truck driver received a citation.
