RACINE — A 22-year-old Mount Pleasant woman faces a felony homicide charge after a man was run over and killed during an early-morning argument in Racine, according to a criminal complaint. Adasia Jones is charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle in connection with the Sept. 20 incident near Hubbard and Wisconsin streets. Officers responding to the crash found the victim in the roadway and an unoccupied vehicle still running nearby. The man later died at a hospital. According to the complaint, Jones told police she had driven to the home to speak with the victim about ongoing problems in their relationship. She initially said the man climbed onto the hood of her car and would not get off. Jones told investigators he eventually fell from the vehicle and that she accidentally struck him when she returned to check on him after he landed in the street. Police administered field sobriety tests, during which the complaint says Jones stumbled and acknowledged she was intoxicated. Investigators quoted her as saying, “Ima be real, I’m drunk because he kept me up all night.” The victim’s brother told investigators he believed Jones accelerated toward the man before stopping, getting out of the vehicle and yelling, “Oh my God!” Jones made her first court appearance Monday. A judge set her cash bond at $15,000. The charge is an allegation, and Jones is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
