MILWAUKEE — Nine people were evacuated from a home on the city’s south side after an overnight fire in Milwaukee’s Historic Mitchell Street neighborhood, the Milwaukee Fire Department said. Firefighters were called shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday to the area of South 9th and Orchard streets, where they found flames in the attic of the house. Crews extinguished the fire, according to the department. No one was injured. Investigators are working to determine what caused the blaze. The fire damaged the upper portion of the home and prompted the evacuation of everyone inside, though officials did not immediately release information about the residents’ next steps or the extent of the property damage.
