Milwaukee man charged after police say chase ended in officer assault and crash
A criminal complaint says Sincere Kewon Scott fled a traffic stop, crashed and injured an officer during his arrest. Scott faces 12 charges; two other men face drug-related charges tied to the investigation.
A 22-year-old Milwaukee man faces 12 criminal counts after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop, crashing a vehicle and biting and striking an officer during his arrest, according to a complaint filed Monday, Oct. 19.
Police tried to stop Sincere Kewon Scott’s Toyota RAV4 for an equipment violation on Oct. 14, the complaint says. Scott allegedly drove off, ran six stop signs in a residential area and crashed into a light pole and a tree before running from the vehicle.
Officer Bradley Livingston pursued Scott. During a struggle, Scott allegedly bit Livingston and hit him in the head with a magazine taken from the officer’s vest. Livingston was treated at a hospital for a head cut that required several stitches, according to the complaint.
A witness told local television reporters they heard a struggle and saw Scott strike and bite the officer as the officer called for help. The witness said the officer eventually gained control of Scott.
Scott’s charges include fleeing an officer and causing property damage, reckless endangerment, battery of a public officer, and aggravated battery with an allegation that a dangerous weapon was used. He also faces drug-distribution and firearm-possession charges, including allegations involving fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine. These are allegations, and the charges have not been proven in court.
The complaint says officers found cocaine and fentanyl on Scott. In the RAV4, police reported finding additional drugs, two firearms, digital scales and plastic bags. One handgun allegedly had a device capable of enabling fully automatic fire.
Two other men, Javeonte D. Thomas and Jerrell Kendrick Shead, also face charges connected to drugs allegedly found in the vehicle. The complaint says Thomas was involved in a separate police encounter later that day, when he allegedly ran from officers and discarded a bag containing suspected drugs. Thomas faces four additional counts beyond four counts he shares with Shead.
The Milwaukee Police Association said officer Livingston was injured while trying to arrest a fleeing suspect. Association president Alex Ayala also criticized a prior sentencing decision, saying a five-year prison sentence for Scott, followed by five years of extended supervision, had been stayed in 2025. The association called for answers about that decision. The complaint does not detail the earlier case or explain the court’s reasoning.
