KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. — Flooding has closed the 8600 block of County Trunk Highway S, the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday. The sheriff’s office urged drivers to avoid the area and take an alternate route until the roadway can be safely reopened. Officials also warned motorists not to drive through standing or moving water. Flooding was also reported at Petrifying Springs Park, 5555 7th St. in Kenosha. The Kenosha Parks Department said water was covering parts of the park roadway and areas around several pavilions. The closures followed a weekend of heavy rain across southeastern Wisconsin. A flood watch was in effect from early Saturday through Sunday morning, and parts of Kenosha County recorded at least 2 inches of rain between 8 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday. Officials did not provide a reopening time for the closed roadway or an estimate for when conditions at the park would improve. Residents should check local advisories before traveling through flood-affected areas.
