OAK CREEK, Wis. — Two sections of Oak Creek roads remained closed Monday morning after heavy rain across southeastern Wisconsin caused flooding, while two other flooded areas had reopened. As of 6 a.m. Sept. 21, East County Line Road at Nicholson Road was closed, as was the 2800 block of East Oakwood Road. Officials had not announced when either road would reopen. The 9400 block of South Shepard Avenue and the 1700 block of East Ryan Road had reopened by Monday morning. Oak Creek received just over 4 inches of rain from Friday through Sunday, according to meteorologist Jason Dunning. The rainfall overwhelmed portions of the community and left some roadways unsafe for travel. Drivers should avoid flooded roads and take alternate routes. Even where water appears shallow, flooding can conceal damaged pavement, debris or washed-out areas. The Oak Creek Police Department had not provided a reopening timeline for the remaining closures as of Monday morning.
