Brookfield fan turns home into temporary Brewers tribute ahead of World Series
Mark Valdovinos spray-painted the Brewers logo and “Win Our Way” on his home as the team reached the World Series. The display will last only briefly: new siding is scheduled to go up in about two weeks.
BROOKFIELD, Wis. — As the Milwaukee Brewers returned to the World Series, lifelong fan Mark Valdovinos marked the occasion by spray-painting the team’s logo and the words “Win Our Way” on the side of his house.
The tribute is temporary. Valdovinos said contractors are expected to install new siding in about two weeks, giving his family a short window to show its support in a big way.
Valdovinos was 1 year old when Milwaukee last reached the World Series, in 1982. He recalled being bundled in a snowsuit for the team’s welcome-home parade with his parents.
“I’ve been literally waiting my whole life for the Brewers to go back to the World Series,” he said.
The family also hosted a backyard gathering for Game 1, bringing a television outside and setting up lights, flags and a patio heater. Valdovinos estimated that 15 to 17 people attended. Neighbors watching nearby joined in after hearing the cheering, he said.
The team is part of a family tradition spanning generations. Valdovinos attended a playoff game with his father in 2008, when Milwaukee returned to the postseason after a 26-year absence. Now he shares the Brewers’ run with his own children.
“Baseball — from my dad, to me, and my son and my daughter,” he said, describing the connection across generations.
The family could not get World Series tickets, but Valdovinos said the painted house and backyard watch parties offered another way to take part in the milestone.
