No. 3 Miami brings a 5-0 record and one of college football’s most productive offenses into Saturday night’s matchup at Hard Rock Stadium. Florida State will try to rebound from a 44-20 loss while contending with Miami’s potent passing game and a forecast of rain and thunderstorms.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — No. 3 Miami will put its unbeaten record on the line Saturday night against Florida State, with the Hurricanes’ high-powered offense and potentially stormy South Florida weather shaping the latest meeting between the rivals.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hard Rock Stadium. Miami enters at 5-0, while Florida State is 3-3 and coming off a 44-20 defeat at Louisville. The Seminoles opened that game with a 14-0 lead but could not sustain it.

Miami quarterback Darian Mensah, a transfer from Duke in his first season with the Hurricanes, said he expects a tough contest regardless of the teams’ records. He said Miami practiced with the understanding that the rivalry game would be a fight.

The Hurricanes have averaged 49.6 points and 554.8 yards per game, both figures ranking first nationally, according to the team statistics cited ahead of the matchup. Mensah has completed 84.2% of his passes, throwing 15 touchdowns without an interception.

Florida State’s defense, which has allowed 410.2 yards per game, faces a Miami passing attack averaging 334.4 yards. The Seminoles’ own rushing game could offer a counter: running back Ousmane Kromah has gained 565 yards this season. Miami has permitted just 42.6 rushing yards per game, the lowest average in the country.

Rain and thunderstorms are forecast around game time. Wet conditions could complicate passing, ball security and special teams, increasing the importance of limiting turnovers and sustaining drives on the ground.

For Florida State, the challenge is not only slowing Miami’s offense but also maintaining momentum through the full game after its second-half struggles against Louisville. Miami, meanwhile, will try to keep its perfect start intact in a rivalry where, Mensah said, rankings do not guarantee an easy night.
