South Florida-linked Alexander brothers face sentencing in federal sex-trafficking case

Three brothers with ties to South Florida’s luxury real estate and private-security industries are scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday in federal court in New York after their convictions in a sex-trafficking case involving allegations of assaults over many years.

Oren and Alon Alexander, both 39, and their brother Tal, 40, were convicted in March of multiple charges, including sex trafficking. The charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison. U.S. District Judge Valerie E. Caproni will decide their sentences.

Federal prosecutors have asked Caproni to impose life sentences, describing the brothers as serial rapists and saying the government identified at least 70 women who were raped or sexually assaulted by one or more of them. A probation recommendation calls for 15 years for each victim the brothers raped, which would amount to 195 years for Oren and 180 years each for Alon and Tal, according to court submissions summarized in the case.

Defense lawyers have urged the judge to impose 15-year terms. They said the brothers apologize for conduct they characterized as insensitive toward some women, but continue to deny the criminal charges and plan to appeal their convictions. The lawyers also argued that evidence presented at trial was weak on important issues and that the brothers were prejudiced by the court’s decisions about what the jury could hear.

Eleven women are expected to give victim-impact statements at Tuesday’s hearing. At trial, 11 women testified about being raped or sexually assaulted, including after they said they became disoriented and lost control of their bodies after receiving drinks from the brothers.

Prosecutors said the alleged assaults began when the brothers were in high school, around 2001 or 2002, and later involved women they invited on luxury trips. The brothers have been jailed since their arrests in 2024.

Oren and Tal Alexander were prominent luxury real estate brokers known for high-value sales and celebrity clients. Alon Alexander worked for the family’s private security company. The case drew attention in South Florida, where the brothers had business ties, and nationally for allegations that wealth and influence helped enable repeated abuse.
