Miami man charged after alleged hammer attack during pool-work dispute
Police say Tennier Taylor struck a pool worker with a hammer and a wooden stick at a Belle Meade construction site after complaining about the work. Taylor was arrested after the worker identified him in a photo lineup; he denies that a physical fight occurred.
A 42-year-old man faces a felony charge after allegedly attacking a worker during a dispute over pool construction at a home in Miami’s Belle Meade neighborhood, police said.
The incident happened Aug. 20 at a home under construction, according to authorities. Police said Tennier Taylor had hired the worker to build a pool and arrived that day dissatisfied with the work. Taylor allegedly picked up a hammer and began damaging the construction.
The worker tried to explain that the problem could be fixed, police said. According to an arrest form, Taylor then struck the worker in the chest with the hammer, threw the hammer at him and hit him in the back with a wooden stick. The worker blocked the thrown hammer, authorities said.
Taylor told police he was unhappy with the quality of the work and had asked the worker to redo it or leave. He acknowledged an argument but denied that the two had a physical altercation, according to the arrest form.
After an investigation lasting several months, the worker identified Taylor in a photo lineup, police said. Taylor was arrested Sunday and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, a felony.
As of Monday afternoon, Taylor was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. His bond had not yet been set.
