Hollywood police arrest 21-year-old after alleged car burglaries and crashes
Police say Jamar Harris was arrested after a predawn incident that began with reports of attempted vehicle burglaries near South Young Circle and continued through West Park. Authorities have not released the charges against him.
A 21-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after police say he tried to burglarize vehicles in Hollywood, struck a police cruiser and fled before crashing again in West Park.
Hollywood officers responded shortly before 5 a.m. to the 1700 block of South Young Circle after receiving reports of someone trying to break into cars, police said. The suspect then allegedly hit a cruiser and drove away. Police said he later crashed in West Park and ran from officers.
Officers found the man hiding in a shed and arrested him, according to police. He was identified as Jamar Harris. Authorities had not released his charges in the account of the incident.
A video accompanying the report showed a black vehicle with front-end damage, but it was not clear whether that car was involved.
Court records cited in the report show Harris was arrested in Pompano in 2025 on allegations of grand theft and possessing burglary tools with intent to use. An arrest is not a finding of guilt.
