BMW overturns during FHP pursuit near Miami Lakes; three taken to hospital
Three people were taken to a hospital early Monday after a silver BMW overturned during a Florida Highway Patrol pursuit on southbound State Road 826 near Miami Lakes, authorities said. FHP troopers tried to stop the BMW around 4:13 a.m. near Northwest 47th Avenue because it was allegedly speeding excessively, said Lt. Alex Camacho. The driver did not stop, and troopers began pursuing the car. The driver tried to leave the expressway at Northwest 154th Street but failed to navigate a curve, Camacho said. The BMW went off the roadway and down an embankment, hit a culvert drain and overturned. A marked patrol vehicle also traveled down the embankment and collided with the BMW. All three BMW occupants were injured, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening, authorities said. They were transported to a nearby hospital. The trooper was not injured. Authorities had not released the occupants’ identities or provided information about possible charges as of Monday morning.
