Murphy makes award history as Brewers prepare for World Series opener

Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy has won National League manager of the year honors for a third straight season. The Brewers open the World Series against Tampa Bay on Friday in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy has earned National League manager of the year honors for the third consecutive season, the team announced Thursday.

Murphy is the first National League manager in more than two decades to win The Sporting News’ award three years in a row. Bobby Cox was the last to do so, in 2005.

The recognition comes as Milwaukee prepares to host the Tampa Bay Rays for Game 1 of the World Series at 7 p.m. Friday. Brewers players Brice Turang and Jacob Misiorowski were also named to the 2026 National League All-Star Team.
