MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewers clinched a postseason berth Friday with a 20-0 shutout of the Cincinnati Reds, extending the club’s commanding position atop the National League Central. Milwaukee improved to 91-66 and moved 9.5 games ahead of the Chicago Cubs. The Brewers can secure the division title Sunday. The offense broke the game open early, scoring eight runs across the first two innings against Reds starter Andrew Abbott. Milwaukee added eight more runs in the eighth inning against Cincinnati right-hander Luis Mey. Dustin May delivered a strong rebound performance after struggling in his previous two starts. He worked six innings, surrendered two hits and struck out six, helping the Brewers finish the night with a shutout. Milwaukee and Cincinnati continue their series Saturday. Kyle Harrison is scheduled to start for the Brewers against Cincinnati’s Brady Singer, with first pitch set for 6:10 p.m.
