Frelick’s tying homer fuels Brewers’ 5-4 comeback in Game 2

The Milwaukee Brewers overcame an early four-run hole to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 on Saturday at American Family Field, moving two wins ahead in the 2026 World Series.

Tampa Bay struck quickly against Milwaukee starter Logan Henderson, taking a 4-0 lead in the first inning on Liam Hicks’ two-run home run and other early scoring. The Brewers answered in the bottom half: William Contreras and Garrett Mitchell each drove in a run, cutting the gap to 4-2.

Milwaukee added another run in the fourth after David Hamilton reached on a fielding error by Jonathan Aranda, allowing Cooper Pratt to score. The Brewers’ bullpen kept Tampa Bay from adding to its lead, and Sal Frelick tied the game with a solo homer in the sixth.

Henderson worked three innings and was replaced by JoJo Romero to start the fourth. Romero allowed one hit and no runs while striking out one.

The victory followed Milwaukee’s 3-2 win in Friday’s series opener. The Brewers will travel to Tampa Bay for Game 3, scheduled for Monday at 7 p.m. Central time at Tropicana Field.
