Motorcyclist killed in collision at Highway 14 and Scherbel Road in Dane County
A motorcyclist died Sunday after striking the rear of an SUV that had stopped to turn left on U.S. Highway 14 in the town of Berry. The SUV’s driver was not injured, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office said.
A motorcyclist died Sunday after a collision with an SUV at U.S. Highway 14 and Scherbel Road in the town of Berry, according to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and responders from Cross Plains police, fire and emergency medical services were called to the intersection around 11:30 a.m. Both vehicles were traveling west on Highway 14, investigators determined. The SUV had stopped while waiting to turn left onto Scherbel Road when the motorcycle struck its rear, the sheriff’s office said.
Other motorcyclists who witnessed the crash stopped and tried to provide life-saving aid. The motorcyclist died at the scene. The SUV driver was not injured.
The highway was closed for several hours as authorities investigated. Officials did not release the motorcyclist’s identity.
