Madison woman faces four charges after incident at hospital, police say
Madison police say Carmella S. Smith, 20, was arrested after an incident at a hospital following a disturbance call on State Street. She was medically cleared before being taken to jail on four charges and an existing warrant.
A 20-year-old woman faces four charges after Madison police say she kicked and bit an officer and spit at another officer at a hospital Wednesday night.
Officers first responded to the 200 block of State Street after receiving a report of a woman causing a disturbance and trying to fight someone, the Madison Police Department said Thursday. The woman, identified as Carmella S. Smith, was taken to the Dane County Jail, where she said she was not feeling well.
Police said Smith continued to cause a disturbance at a hospital, where the alleged assaults occurred. After she was medically cleared, she was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, battery to law enforcement and discharging bodily fluid on a public safety worker, according to the department.
Police also said Smith had an outstanding arrest warrant. The investigation is ongoing. The allegations have not been tested in court.
