Madison has completed 2,424 new homes so far in 2026, surpassing the 2,328 homes completed during all of 2025, according to figures reported Oct. 7. With three months remaining in the year, the city is on pace for a record year of housing construction.
More than 700 of this year’s completed homes are subsidized affordable units. That is the highest annual total since at least 2016.
The construction brings Madison to about 32% of its goal of adding 15,000 homes by 2030. The figures count homes completed, not simply proposed or under construction.
