Fitchburg’s Lacy Road closure will reroute drivers and Metro Route 65
A section of Lacy Road in Fitchburg will be closed to all traffic for about two weeks starting Sept. 24. The construction will also detour southbound Metro Route 65 and temporarily eliminate one bus stop.
A section of Lacy Road in Fitchburg will close for construction from 7 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, through 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, city officials said.
The closure will cover Lacy Road between Central Park Place and E. Cheryl Parkway. No vehicles will be allowed through the work zone during the closure period, which is expected to last about two weeks.
Drivers should use Central Park Place or E. Cheryl Parkway to reach Syene Road, according to the city. Officials are advising motorists to allow extra time for the detour.
The project will also affect Madison Metro Route 65. Southbound buses will be rerouted along Highway MM and Haight Farm Road. The southbound stop at the Lacy Road and Central Park Place intersection will be temporarily closed.
Other stops on Route 65 are expected to remain open, and the bus detour is scheduled to continue for the same two-week period as the road closure.
