Edgewood’s 40-acre Fitchburg project pairs sports facilities with wetland restoration
Edgewood University has started work on a $30 million athletics and wellness campus in Fitchburg. Plans include facilities for several sports, recreation options for the wider Madison community and restoration of 12 acres of wetlands.
Edgewood University broke ground Thursday on a planned $30 million athletics and wellness campus on a 40-acre property in Fitchburg, the university announced Friday.
The campus is set to include fields for baseball, softball, soccer and lacrosse, track and field facilities, and an indoor golf training space. The university also plans to restore 12 acres of wetlands on the property.
The project is intended to serve more than university athletes: Edgewood says the campus will provide recreation and wellness opportunities for students and the greater Madison community. The university has not provided a completion date in the information released about the groundbreaking.
