A 24-year-old bicyclist suffered serious injuries Sunday night after a car struck him at an apartment complex on Madison’s Huxley Street, police said. The crash happened around 8:50 p.m. in the 900 block of Huxley Street. The man was sitting on his bicycle at a bike rack when he was hit, according to Madison police. Police said the driver left the scene and parked at a nearby parking ramp. Security camera footage captured the incident, they said. Officers went to the apartment of the vehicle’s owner and found a 31-year-old Fitchburg man hiding in a closet, police said. The man is being held in the Dane County Jail and faces allegations of operating while intoxicated causing injury and hit-and-run causing great bodily harm. Police did not release his name because he had not been formally charged in court.
