74-year-old rescued after skid steer falls through Montrose barn floor
A 74-year-old man was taken to a Madison hospital with minor injuries after his skid steer partially fell through a barn floor into a basement in the Town of Montrose. Firefighters freed him within 30 minutes and stabilized the machine and structure.
A 74-year-old man was rescued Monday morning after the skid steer he was operating partially fell through a barn floor into a basement in the Town of Montrose, according to the Belleville Fire Department.
Emergency crews were called at about 11:28 a.m. to the 7000 block of Walter Road. They found the man trapped inside the machine’s cab. Firefighters stabilized the skid steer and barn before removing him within 30 minutes, the department said.
The man was taken to a Madison hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The Fitchburg Fire Department’s technical rescue team also responded and helped stabilize the structure. The skid steer had not been recovered as of Monday, and fire officials said they could not yet estimate the damage.
