Isaac Brown’s 97-yard touchdown ignites Louisville comeback against Florida State
Louisville erased a 14-point deficit to beat Florida State 44-20 at L&N Stadium, ending a two-game skid. Running back Isaac Brown ran for 258 yards, including a program-record 97-yard touchdown.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville rallied from an early 14-point hole to beat Florida State 44-20 on Friday, Oct. 9, at L&N Stadium, improving to 3-3 and ending a two-game losing streak.
The Cardinals trailed 14-0 after the first quarter, but Isaac Brown’s 97-yard touchdown run — the longest play in program history — helped Louisville pull even by halftime. Marquise Davis also scored in the first half.
Brown opened the second half with a 71-yard kickoff return, setting up Louisville near midfield. Quarterback Lincoln Kienholz scored on a run to finish a short drive and put the Cardinals ahead 21-14. Kienholz added another rushing touchdown on a one-yard run after a 76-yard drive, extending the lead to 28-14.
Louisville continued to lean on its ground game in the fourth quarter. Braxton Jennings broke free for a 32-yard touchdown to make it 35-14 with just under 13 minutes remaining.
Florida State answered with a touchdown, then tried for two points. A Louisville interception stopped the attempt, leaving the score 35-20. Brown widened the gap moments later with a 68-yard touchdown run, and a 39-yard field goal brought the final score to 44-20.
Brown finished with 258 yards on 17 carries and two touchdowns. Louisville improved to 2-2 against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents.
The Cardinals are scheduled to host Syracuse on Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
