Indiana’s overtime touchdown ends 59-year wait for win at Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — No. 6 Indiana edged Michigan 13-6 in overtime Saturday, Oct. 24, ending a nearly six-decade drought at Michigan Stadium and improving to 7-1 this season.

The Hoosiers were held scoreless in the second half of regulation, and a field goal in the closing seconds sent the game to overtime. Indiana’s defense kept Michigan from taking control after the break, forcing the Wolverines to settle for two field goals.

In overtime, Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover connected with Brock Schott for a 21-yard gain, then ran 4 yards for the game-winning touchdown. Michigan’s true freshman quarterback, Tommy Carr, made a key third-down run during the overtime period, but the Wolverines could not complete a pass on their ensuing set of downs.

The win was Indiana’s first in Ann Arbor since 1967. It also marked the first time in coach Curt Cignetti’s tenure that the Hoosiers did not score a touchdown during regulation.

Indiana is scheduled to host Minnesota on Oct. 31 at 3:30 p.m.
