Please & Thank You shuts down Clifton cafe as other Louisville shops remain open

Please & Thank You has closed its cafe on Frankfort Avenue in Louisville’s Clifton neighborhood, the business said in a notice posted at the shop. The sign thanked customers for their visits and said the company had valued being part of the neighborhood.

The closure was reported Oct. 20, 2026. The company’s NuLu location—the first to open—and its Prospect shop remain open.

The move comes amid financial and ownership changes for the Louisville coffee-and-cookie business. Please & Thank You filed for bankruptcy in June; the filing said the company had not been profitable since 2019. The business announced new owners the previous month.

The Frankfort Avenue cafe had been part of the city’s cafe scene, known for its cookies and atmosphere. The company has not publicly detailed the reason for closing that location.
