Louisville suspends caterer’s alcohol license after three men wounded near Mellwood

Louisville Metro Alcoholic Beverage Control on Monday issued an emergency suspension of the liquor license held by Happy Endings, LLC, after a shooting near the Mellwood Arts Center left three men wounded.

Police responded to Mellwood Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 25. The shooting took place in a parking lot across from the event center. Two men were found with gunshot wounds and taken to a hospital. A third man, injured in the same incident, flagged down an ambulance near Preston and East Gray streets. All three are expected to survive, according to police. No arrests have been made.

Metro ABC said Happy Endings was catering alcohol at an event at the arts center and was connected to the shooting. The agency said its emergency order followed serious public-safety concerns and a preliminary finding that the business had violated its catering license. Officials did not specify the alleged violation.

“ABC remains committed to protecting public safety and ensuring that alcoholic beverage licensees operate in accordance with both State and local laws and regulations,” agency representative Brandon Bowden said.
