Louisville man charged after pedestrian dies in Bardstown Road crash
Gerson Alvarado Arrivillaga, 27, faces murder and other charges in a July crash near Bardstown Road and South Watterson Trail. Police say he was driving the wrong way and left the scene after striking a pedestrian.
A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a July hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian in southeast Louisville, police said.
Gerson Alvarado Arrivillaga faces charges of murder, leaving the scene of an accident and four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department. The charges are allegations; the case will proceed through the court system.
The crash happened July 5 near Bardstown Road and South Watterson Trail. Police said a vehicle involved in an earlier crash had been left unoccupied in a lane of Bardstown Road. A pedestrian and the vehicle’s suspected driver were near the concrete median when a second vehicle traveling the wrong way struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian, an adult man, was taken to UofL Hospital and died a short time later. The driver of the vehicle that hit him fled, police said. LMPD’s Traffic Unit investigated.
