Vehicle hits transformer, cutting electricity to Clark County school bus facility

A vehicle struck a transformer at the Clark County School District’s Arville Bus Yard on Monday, cutting power to equipment at the transportation and maintenance facility, district officials said.

The yard is at 4499 Arville Street in Las Vegas. NV Energy crews responded and shut off power at the district’s request. Electricity will remain off in areas where needed until repairs can be completed safely, a CCSD spokesperson said.

The outage did not stop buses from operating out of the yard, according to the district. Maintenance employees were reassigned to other service yards, and office staff moved elsewhere to stay in contact with drivers. Administrators remained at the site to support drivers and repair technicians.

CCSD said power could be restored as early as Tuesday, depending on repairs and safety conditions.
