A man in his 20s died after a fight ended in a shooting Wednesday evening near East Owens Avenue and Nellis Boulevard, Las Vegas police said. The shooter left in a car and remained at large as of Thursday morning.
Officers responded around 7:30 p.m. Oct. 14 to the 4700 block of East Owens Avenue after a ShotSpotter alert and a report that someone had been shot, Lt. Robert Price said. Northeast Area Command officers found the man wounded in a parking lot and provided aid until medical personnel arrived.
The man was taken to University Medical Center, where he later died. Police described him as Hispanic and in his 20s. Detectives believe he had been visiting the nearby business, rather than working there, Price said.
According to investigators’ preliminary account, the victim was walking outside the business while the suspect was speaking toward it. The two began fighting, and the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim, Price said.
Police had no description of the suspect beyond that he was a man. Homicide detectives are investigating.
