Clark County board seat would oversee Allegiant Stadium and A’s ballpark
Clark County is seeking residents to fill a three-year seat on the Las Vegas Stadium Authority board, which oversees Allegiant Stadium and the Athletics’ ballpark under construction. Applications are due Nov. 16, and the unpaid appointment is expected to be made Dec. 1.
Clark County residents interested in overseeing two of Southern Nevada’s major sports venues can apply for a seat on the Las Vegas Stadium Authority Board of Directors by 5 p.m. Nov. 16.
The appointee will serve a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2027. The position is unpaid. County commissioners are expected to select a candidate at their Dec. 1 meeting for the nine-member board.
The Stadium Authority oversees Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Major League Baseball stadium being built for the Athletics at the former Tropicana site. Its responsibilities include managing the stadiums and related land, distributing revenue through a coverage waterfall system and overseeing capital improvement funds.
Applicants must live within 25 miles of the Clark County Government Center at 500 S. Grand Central Parkway in Las Vegas. The county does not require a particular professional background, though it encourages candidates to review its recommendations on residency and experience before applying. The board’s work includes projects with significant public implications. The Athletics’ ballpark is targeted to open before the 2028 baseball season. Stadium Authority records showed that, as of August, two of six roof trusses had been erected and more than 750 craft workers were on site each day.
At Allegiant Stadium, a $75 million public investment to improve fan access on the north side was recently approved as part of a broader $158 million accessibility plan. Work is expected to begin after the 2026 NFL season and finish before the stadium hosts Super Bowl LXIII in February 2029.
