A woman in her early 50s was shot in the left ankle early Tuesday after hearing an argument and gunfire near the 8200 block of 118th Street in Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
Officers were called to the area at about 1:41 a.m. on Oct. 27, according to Sgt. Richardson. The woman was taken to a local hospital by a family member. Her injury was not considered life-threatening.
The woman told police she heard people arguing in the yard of a residence whose address is not known. After hearing gunshots, she ran and felt pain in her foot, Richardson said. She did not see the people involved and was unable to provide information about a suspect.
The Sheriff’s Office said investigators believe the shooting was isolated. Detectives have spoken with witnesses, searched the area for surveillance video and are following up on leads.
