Frequent Ichetucknee Springs visitor found dead in water; cause remains under review
A visitor found 75-year-old Dennis John Faust floating at Ichetucknee Springs, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators reported no signs of foul play, and the medical examiner is determining the cause of death.
A visitor at Ichetucknee Springs found Dennis John Faust, 75, dead in the water Wednesday, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said.
The visitor and a companion saw a float caught in the middle of the springs with Faust partly hanging from it. One of them pulled him from the water and called police, according to the sheriff’s office.
Park attendants recognized Faust as a frequent visitor. Authorities said they found no signs of foul play. The medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death, and the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office notified Faust’s family, officials said.
