Jacksonville man charged in fatal 103rd Street shooting that left four others targeted
Dominique Alexander, 24, was arrested on a murder warrant tied to the January shooting death of Porfirio Rosario, 45, on Jacksonville’s 103rd Street. He also faces four attempted-murder counts and a firearm charge, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
A 24-year-old Jacksonville man has been charged in the January shooting death of Porfirio Rosario, 45, on 103rd Street, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
Detectives arrested Dominique Alexander on Wednesday, Oct. 21, after receiving a warrant charging him with murder, four counts of attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The shooting happened Jan. 28 near Britton Lane. Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office District 4 patrol officers responded after Rosario arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. He died at the hospital, authorities said.
Investigators said Rosario was shot while riding as a passenger in a car. The driver brought him to the hospital. Homicide detectives identified Alexander as a suspect after interviewing witnesses and canvassing the area, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Alexander was already being held in Duval County jail after a March arrest on a charge of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. He was awaiting trial in that case when the new warrant was issued.
The charges are allegations, and Alexander is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
