Family urges witnesses to come forward in fatal Arlington shooting
Bryce Scott, 23, was shot near Bert Road on Oct. 5, and Jacksonville police have not named a suspect. His mother says she hopes someone who saw what happened will help investigators; the family plans a memorial service Oct. 23.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Alexandria Scott is seeking answers after her 23-year-old son, Bryce Scott, was shot and killed in Arlington earlier this month. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has not identified a suspect in the case.
Officers responded to the area near Bert Road shortly after 3 p.m. Oct. 5 and found Bryce Scott with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the sheriff’s office.
His mother said she learned of the shooting from the news and did not initially realize her son was the victim. She said she regrets not being with him when he died.
Alexandria Scott believes people in the area may have witnessed the shooting or seen her son running. She described him as an athlete and appealed to anyone with information to help establish what happened and who was responsible.
Mad Dads of Northeast Florida, an advocacy group, has circulated images of Bryce Scott on Facebook and encouraged people to share information. Arlington resident Kalynn Edwards also called on neighbors to support the family and keep attention on the case, saying the community should come together after the loss.
The family plans to hold a memorial service Oct. 23. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers.
