Duval report records 21 deaths in domestic violence cases during 2025
A county review found 16 domestic violence-related homicide cases in Duval County last year, with at least one fatal case in every Jacksonville police district. Hubbard House is using October’s awareness campaign to highlight the toll and connect survivors with support.
Domestic violence-related cases claimed 21 lives in Duval County in 2025, according to the county’s latest Domestic Violence Fatality Review Report. The cases included three perpetrators who died by suicide, and at least one fatal case was reported in every Jacksonville police district.
The report documented 16 cases: 10 involving intimate partners and six involving family members. The findings are at the center of Hubbard House’s #WhereYouAre campaign, launched during Domestic Violence Awareness Month to emphasize that abuse can affect people in any neighborhood or circumstance.
“Your friends, family, colleagues, neighbors — someone you know has experienced domestic violence. Someone you know may be living in abuse right now,” said Dr. Gail Patin, the nonprofit’s president and CEO. Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters, State Attorney Melissa Nelson and other community partners have joined the campaign, which calls for prevention, education and support for survivors.
A display of 6,447 purple flags outside the Duval County Courthouse represents the number of injunctions for protection filed in the county in 2025. Hubbard House is encouraging residents to share the campaign, attend awareness events and support survivors through donations and education.
The organization’s annual Barbara Ann Campbell Memorial Breakfast is scheduled for Oct. 21. Hubbard House also plans to mark its 50th anniversary, including with a new logo and an anniversary gala.
Survivors can reach Hubbard House’s confidential, 24-hour hotline at 904-354-3114 or text 904-210-3698. The organization’s Outreach Center, at 6629 Beach Blvd., is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hubbard House says all of its services are free and confidential.
