Colts go scoreless after halftime in 16-10 loss at Minnesota
Indianapolis fell to 2-5 with its third straight defeat, unable to add to a 10-6 halftime lead against the Vikings. The Colts visit Jacksonville next Sunday.
MINNEAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts managed no points after halftime Sunday and lost 16-10 to the Minnesota Vikings, dropping to 2-5 and extending their losing streak to three games.
Indianapolis took a 10-6 lead into the break, but Minnesota’s defense held the Colts scoreless in the second half. Quarterback Daniel Jones completed 13 of 22 passes for 108 yards and threw an interception. He was sacked four times for a combined loss of 44 yards.
The Colts found more room on the ground, averaging 4.7 yards per carry. Jonathan Taylor rushed for 95 yards, including a 38-yard touchdown on Indianapolis’ opening drive. Seth McGowan added 46 yards on 11 carries.
Taylor said the narrow loss was frustrating, particularly with the Colts now 1-3 in games decided by one possession. “At the end of the day, I know we have the guys,” he said. “You just got to think about how to find ways to just make one more play than your opponent.”
Coach Shane Steichen said the team’s effort was not the issue, but acknowledged it must find ways to finish games. Offensive guard Quenton Nelson urged teammates to maintain belief, saying one win could help the team build momentum.
Indianapolis’ defense limited Minnesota to 275 total yards and recorded three sacks of quarterback Kyler Murray, but the Colts could not turn that performance into a win.
The Colts’ next game is on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are 4-2. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1.
