Colts add veteran punter Thomas Morstead after blocked-punt loss to Titans
Indianapolis signed Thomas Morstead to its practice squad Tuesday as insurance for injured punter Rigoberto Sanchez. The move follows a blocked punt that helped Tennessee secure a 26-20 upset Sunday.
INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts signed veteran punter Thomas Morstead to their practice squad Tuesday, adding insurance as Rigoberto Sanchez deals with an injury stemming from a blocked punt against Tennessee.
The blocked punt helped swing Sunday’s game toward the Titans, who beat Indianapolis 26-20. Sanchez was hit hard on the play, and the loss marked a difficult outing for the Colts’ special teams under coordinator Brian Mason, who is in his fourth season with the team.
Morstead’s practice-squad signing gives Indianapolis another punter option while Sanchez is ailing. The team announced the move Oct. 20.
