Two people were arrested after a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 25 in Larimer County ended in a crash shortly before midnight Thursday, Oct. 8, authorities said. Larimer County sheriff’s deputies spotted a vehicle that had reportedly fled from Fort Collins police shortly before. When deputies tried to stop it, the driver sped away on I-25, reaching more than 100 mph, according to the sheriff’s office. The vehicle attempted to pass another vehicle and struck a guardrail near the exit to Highway 60, the sheriff’s office said. No injuries were reported. Deputies arrested the 23-year-old driver and 21-year-old passenger and recovered a loaded handgun from the vehicle. The driver faces allegations including eluding, traffic violations, driving under the influence and reckless endangerment. The male passenger was arrested on suspicion of prohibited use of weapons. Both were booked into the Larimer County Jail. The sheriff’s office said dangerous driving puts the community at risk and noted that no one was injured.
