Boulder County officials issued an evacuation warning Tuesday morning for homes near the Dry Creek St. Vrain Trail as a wildfire burned north of Highway 7. Residents in the affected area were told to prepare to leave and gather essential items.

An evacuation warning was issued at 9:38 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, for homes near the Dry Creek St. Vrain Trail in Boulder County, where a wildfire was burning north of Highway 7 near U.S. Forest Service Road 920, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said. The warning covers U.S. Forest Service land north of Riverside, east of Allenspark and west of Lyons, between South Sheep Mountain and Coffintop Mountain. Officials said smoke from the Dry Creek Fire may be visible between Lyons and Allenspark. Residents in the affected area were urged to prepare to evacuate and have necessary belongings ready to go.
