Aurora police arrest man after gunfire during Rangeview High pickup dispute

A man was arrested Tuesday after a dispute between two people picking up students at Rangeview High School in Aurora ended with a firearm being discharged in the school parking lot, police said.

The Aurora Police Department said the argument stemmed from a road-rage incident. The men began fighting, and one of them fired a weapon before leaving the scene. No injuries were reported.

Rangeview was placed on a secure perimeter for about 10 minutes, delaying dismissal, according to police. School resource officers collected information about the suspect and his vehicle, which they relayed to Aurora police.

Officers used Flock cameras, city cameras and drones to locate the vehicle and direct police to it. They arrested the suspect shortly afterward and recovered a firearm, the department said. Police had not released the man’s name as of Tuesday.
