Perot Museum plans 4-acre Dallas expansion with outdoor science exhibits

The Perot Museum of Nature and Science plans to expand its Dallas campus with new outdoor exhibits, green space and improved access for school groups, a project museum leaders say will nearly double the campus’s size.

The expansion will add at least four acres and 60,000 square feet of outdoor science experiences. Planned attractions include a mist maze, geysers, a pavilion focused on lightning and thunder, a large water vortex and a fire tornado.

Museum officials expected to unveil the design on Oct. 20, 2026. Groundbreaking is anticipated in early 2027, with completion projected for late 2028.

The museum has raised $135 million toward a $185 million fundraising goal, officials said. Once the expansion is complete, they expect it to draw an additional 400,000 visitors each year.

The project is also set to add amenities and outdoor green space, while making visits easier for school groups. The museum has not provided details on how the expanded campus will affect admission prices or how the new spaces will be maintained.
