Pedestrian killed in early-morning crash on Matlock Road in Arlington

A man was killed early Monday after a pickup truck struck him while he was crossing Matlock Road in Arlington, police said.

Officers were called to the 2600 block of Matlock Road at about 6:25 a.m. and found the man unresponsive in the roadway. He died at the scene, according to police.

Investigators said a northbound Nissan Frontier hit the man as he crossed the road outside a crosswalk or other designated crossing. Police have not released his identity.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No criminal charges have been filed against the driver at this time, police said.

Arlington police urged pedestrians to use marked crosswalks or traffic signals, noting that reduced visibility in the dark can increase danger near traffic.
