Masked robber attacks Cedar Crest body shop owner, steals necklace
A 78-year-old Dallas body shop owner was hospitalized after a masked person hit him with a gun during a robbery Tuesday in Cedar Crest. Police have not identified a suspect or made an arrest.
A 78-year-old Dallas body shop owner was struck in the head with a pistol and robbed of his necklace Tuesday at his business in the Cedar Crest neighborhood, police said. He was released from the hospital Wednesday morning, according to his family.
Dallas police responded around noon Oct. 20 to a robbery call in the 100 block of East Saner Avenue. Investigators said an unknown person entered Arreola’s body shop, assaulted the owner, took his property and fled.
The victim, Ismael Arreola, was hit on the head and ear, his niece Mary Martinez said. The suspect took Arreola’s necklace and dropped its cross pendant while leaving, Martinez said.
“He just started hitting him,” Martinez said, describing the attack. She said workers were on the other side of a wall when it happened. Arreola has worked at the shop for about 30 years, she said.
Security video from the business shows the masked suspect before and after the robbery. Police have not publicly identified the person, and no arrests have been reported. The investigation is ongoing.
