A 21-year-old woman was found shot multiple times Thursday night at a home on Arborwood Drive in Forney, and her boyfriend was arrested on a murder charge, authorities said.

Kaufman County sheriff’s officials identified the woman as Amaya Penneywell-Robinson. Deputies from multiple agencies responded to the residence and found her dead inside, according to Scott Whitaker of the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office.

Calvin Steven Farr, 20, was arrested at the scene. He remains in the Kaufman County jail, held on a $750,000 bond. The charge is an allegation; court records or further information about the case were not included in the information available.

Penneywell-Robinson’s mother, Tiara Tilley-Davis, said her daughter had been working overnight shifts for a security company while studying to become a dental hygienist. She was about two weeks from graduating.

Tilley-Davis said her daughter left home around 6:30 p.m. Thursday after visiting a dentist’s office and showering. She told her mother she planned to collect some belongings and get food before going to work. Later that night, the family learned she had died.

Her mother described Penneywell-Robinson as ambitious, talented and joyful. She also said she had urged her daughter to leave Farr, whom she said Penneywell-Robinson had dated since high school. Tilley-Davis called for people experiencing verbal or emotional abuse to seek help before abuse escalates.

The killing comes as Domestic Violence Awareness Month draws to a close. No further details about the investigation or any court proceedings were provided.
