Dulce Gomez gets 30-year sentence in death of Fort Worth infant

Dulce Gomez, 59, was sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder in the suffocation death of 9-month-old Fabian Arjon, the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office said.

Fort Worth police officers, firefighters and MedStar personnel went to a home on West Vista Circle on Nov. 4, 2024, after a report of an unresponsive infant. Gomez was caring for the child at the time, according to information released by authorities.

Paramedics took Arjon to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified the infant, and prosecutors said he died by suffocation.

Gomez initially faced a capital murder charge before pleading guilty to murder. Officials have not publicly detailed what happened before the child was found unresponsive or described Gomez’s relationship with his family.

The district attorney’s office thanked Fort Worth police for their work on the case and their commitment to community safety.
