Dallas police communications executive investigated after reported motorist confrontation

DALLAS — The Dallas Police Department has opened a criminal investigation into Assistant Director of Media Relations and Community Affairs Allison Hudson following a reported confrontation with a motorist, the department confirmed Friday.

The allegations involve Hudson’s use of a department-issued vehicle equipped with emergency lights and sirens, according to people familiar with the investigation. The department has not released details about the reported encounter or specified what conduct is under investigation.

People familiar with the case said the motorist reported the confrontation to officers at the department’s Southeast Patrol Division. The department’s Public Integrity Unit then began investigating, and multiple Dallas police employees have been questioned. Investigators have also taken possession of the vehicle, those people said.

Hudson has not been arrested or charged, and no determination of wrongdoing has been made. The department confirmed the investigation is criminal but declined to comment further. “I can confirm there is an open investigation,” the department said in an emailed response.

Records from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement show Hudson does not hold a Texas peace officer license. Louisiana’s Peace Officer Standards and Training Council said she also does not hold a license there. Hudson previously worked as a police spokesperson for the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana.

Police Chief Comeaux said Friday that the investigation is ongoing and that he could not provide more information until it is complete. Dallas City Manager Kim Tolbert’s office said the department would not comment on the allegations during the investigation. Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot said his office had not been contacted about the matter.

Hudson joined the department in October 2025 after being recruited by Comeaux. She is the department’s highest-ranking media relations official and reports directly to the chief, according to the department’s organizational chart. The department did not answer questions about whether she had been placed on administrative leave.

Hudson did not respond to requests for comment. An automatic reply from her city email account said she was out of the office and would respond upon her return.
