Ohio Voters to Decide a Measure That Would Cap Corporate Campaign Cash
The ballot initiative would limit contributions from a single source and is already being challenged in three courts.
COLUMBUS. A citizen-initiated measure to cap single-source campaign contributions has cleared its final signature hurdle and will appear on the November ballot.
The proposal is straightforward: no single donor, union, or corporation may give more than five percent of a campaign's total budget.
Legal challenges have already been filed in three courts. Backers say that's the point. If it scares incumbents, it's working.
