Ochoa Brings Tacos, Birria and Patio Dining to East Main Street
Ochoa Mexican Grill opened Oct. 2 at 113 E. Main St., adding a new Mexican restaurant to downtown Columbus. The menu includes tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas, fajitas and birria, along with dishes such as chile relleno, fish tacos and enchiladas. Other offerings include Ensalada Ochoa, barbacoa brisket chili and desserts. The drinks list features beer and wine, cocktails, and margaritas including spicy passionfruit and watermelon basil. Co-owner Brad Hobbs, who is involved in several Columbus restaurants, said he was excited for customers to try the menu. Ochoa is among his current ventures, which also include The Olde Towne Tavern, Osteria Pizzeria and The Walrus Kitchen & Public House. The restaurant occupies the space previously used by Pecan Penny’s, which closed in October 2025. Ochoa can accommodate roughly 135 people inside and outside. Its front patio offers full-service dining, while the rear patio is set up for drinks and appetizers; both have firepits. Most of the renovations to the space were aesthetic, including added fencing and greenery on the front patio. Ochoa is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
