LANCASTER, Ohio — A driver accused of causing a fatal crash near Lancaster earlier this month has been indicted on charges including aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, vehicular assault and operating a vehicle under the influence. Alvaro Uribe-Gonzalez was indicted Thursday in connection with the Sept. 6 collision on U.S. 33 near U.S. 22, according to court records. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Uribe-Gonzalez was driving a 2016 GMC Terrain when it crossed the grass median and struck a 2025 Chevrolet Trax head-on. The GMC caught fire after the crash. Cameron Lyon, 23, was driving the Chevrolet. He was taken to a hospital, where he died. A passenger in the Chevrolet was also hospitalized and treated. According to court records, Uribe-Gonzalez told troopers he had consumed alcohol before the crash. The indictment represents formal allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. A judge set Uribe-Gonzalez’s bond at $5 million last week. Online court records did not list his next court date as of Friday.
